September 2000

Saturday 30th September 2000
Kingstonian 2-4 Rushden & Diamonds
Tarkan Mustafa left as a winner on his first return to Kingsmeadow since his summer departure, but it wasn't through a lack of effort by K's. Second half goals from Geoff Pitcher (via a small deflection) and Sammy Winston (via a huge deflection) were well deserved, but the league leaders proved just too good. Vote now for the man of the match.

Result round-up
Elsewhere, the performance of the day must go to Hayes' Rocky Baptiste, who scored a hat-trick in four minutes to help his side to a 4-3 win at Northwich. Meanwhile, K's drop to seventeenth, with Forest Green being the only winners of the bottom ten.

Chapples rage at internet post
From the Kingston, Surbiton and New Malden Times (22nd September 2000):

Chapples rage at internet post

KINGSTONIAN manager Geoff Chapple has blasted one of the clubs fans on his call line after reading an internet posting that savages most of the sides players.

Chapple was infuriated when he read comments about his players, including Green "absolutely disgusting", Harris: "in no way a leader", Luckett: "couldnt cross to save his life" and Hurst: "instils no confidence in anyone".

The message was posted to the world on the unofficial Kingstonian web site, where fans can discuss the club through an internet message board. The fan, who uses the alias Eagle, was raging about the 3-2 loss to Forest Green Rovers.

He wrote: "For those who werent there, be glad you saved the petrol. It was a disgusting performance. Big changes are required or we will be joining Woking in a relegation fight. And at this rate we wont do too well in it."

In a fierce rebuke, the Umbro Cup-winning manager used his slot on the Geoff Chapple call-line to air his thoughts on the person.

He fumed: "After the Forest Green match hes absolutely lambasted his own team. Now hes a supporter. I dont know how long hes been a supporter, not too long I would have thought to read some of that absolute crap. And I use the word crap."

He continued: "Ive got to be honest, hes called the team a disgrace and hes entitled to his opinions, but Id say that man is a disgrace for what hes put on there."

Chapple even read some of the comments to the players in the dressing room at their next outing to fire them up for the game. It ended 3-2 to Hednesford. The manager admitted: "Were not good enough, thats the bottom line."

Result round-up
The win means that K's climb to the heady heights of sixteenth in the table. After drawing with Stevenage Woking move off of the bottom, whilst Saturday's opponents Rushden continue their unbeaten start to the season with a two-one win at home to Dagenham.

Alan Kingston says K's will be in the Auto Windscreens Shield
Some news that we missed over the weekend - The Kingston Informer reports that "Fears that Kingstonian will not be able to compete in the Auto Windscreens Shield have been quashed by chairman Alan Kingston. He has said that Kingsmeadow will have the necessary ground grading for the competition. He said 'Work will begin any day now'."

Kingstonian 1-3 Chester City
The poor run continued on "Bring a friend" day at Kingsmeadow, as a Colin Luckett penalty proved not to be enough as Chester hit three past the returning Steve Farrelly. Vote for your MOTM here.

Result round-up
K's still lie in twenty-first place despite Woking's one-nil win at Southport. Tuesday's opponents Dover lost two-nil at home to Scarborough, dropping to seventh.

Hednesford Town 3-2 Kingstonian
Another pretty poor display saw Hednesford claim all three points at Keys Park yesterday. The K's goals came from Amara Simba('s backside) and Sammy Winston. The MOTM vote is open.

The report is now ready too.
[top of the page]
Result round-up
The good news is that K's are still Surrey's top side after Woking lost 4-1 at home to Rushden. The bad news is that the Surrey clubs occupy the bottom two places in the table. However, a win against Chester next Saturday would take K's level on points with City, who are currently in tenth.

The report of Wednesday night's embarrassment at Forest Green is now ready. The winner of the MOTM was Mark Boyce. The Doncaster MOTM was Ronnie Green.

K's to be kicked out of the Auto Windscreens Shield?
It looks likely that Kingstonian will not be allowed to take up their place in the Auto Windscreens Shield, as the ground development has still not started. Hereford United will be the team to take part instead.

Details of next month's trip to Yeovil
There is some doubt over travel arrangements to next month's trip to Yeovil. After last year's incident, the Supporters' Club were requested by the club (Kingstonian) to not run a coach. However, the "Table One" coach will be running, as it is an independent venture and thus cannot be stopped.

However, this means that a person currently banned from Kingsmeadow will be travelling to the game, which may mean that there would be a police presence. If this is the case then it seems likely that the SC would run a coach. We'll keep you posted.

Wednesday 13th September 2000
Forest Green Rovers 3-1 Kingstonian
An absolutely disgraceful performace from Kingstonian handed Forest Green all three points. The K's goal came late on when a Mark Boyce shot - destined for Nigel Spink's hands - took a deflection and crept into the corner. Forest Green had led from the first minute and really should have doubled their goal haul for the night. K's now sit in sixteenth place and are falling rapidly. The man of the match vote is now open.

Result round-up
The night's other game saw bottom Boston beat third placed Yeovil by four goals to one.

Travel details for tomorrow's match
Tomorrow's game at Forest Green is definitely on after some interesting developments today. According to the club, Tellings (the K's team's coach supplier) have no petrol, and so K's had no way of getting to the match. They called the Conference who promptly postponed the game. BBC Radio 5 Live announced the postponement, but then Forest Green heard and got a bit put out.

So to ensure that the game goes ahead, they have arranged for a coach to come to Kingston to pick up the K's squad, take them to the game and then return them home afterwards. So presumably they rather fancy their chances.....

Adverts are now on the forum
The more observant of you may have noticed adverts on the forum. The reason that they have appeared is quite simple. For several reasons (one being its popularity!), K's Web is becoming more expensive to run, and I have reached the point where I can't really afford to fund it straight out of my pocket. Therefore I have started trying to find a sponsor. But until I can find one there will be adverts at the top of the forum.

On that point - if anybody out there would like to see their name or their company's name on every page of K's Web then please get in touch - ksweb@kingstonian.com. The cost will be 25 per month. A bargain I'm sure you'll all agree. So there you have it. If they're a pain then sorry. But feel free to click on them occasionally......!!

Kettering Town 3-1 Kingstonian
A woeful display from K's allowed Kettering to gain some sort of revenge for last May's Wembley disappointment. Geoff Pitcher scored what was really only a consolation goal 15 minutes from the end. If you can bring yourself to choose somebody, you can vote for the Man of the Match using the form at the bottom of the as-yet-not-done report.
