Hayes 1-1 Kingstonian |
The last kick of the match saw Gary Patterson score a valuable equaliser to earn K's a point at Hayes tonight. The point moves Hayes up to 16th place in the table, although Morecambe do have eight games in hand on them! K's remain in 20th, but now within three points of Forest Green and with three games in hand. |
Gavin Kelly says farewell |
It looks as though Gavin Kelly has played his last game for the club, although Geoff Chapple isn't quite so sure. Before the game Kelly told us that this was his "last game" and at the end he came over to say his farewells. But when we spoke to Geoff Chapple, he said that Kelly "might" be leaving. Should he do so (which seems roughly 100% certain) then Chapple will look to sign another goalkeeper. |

Telegraph: Chapple checks in for another upset |
From today's Daily Telegraph: Chapple checks in for another upset by John Ley IF THE FA Cup echoes tradition then so does Geoff Chapple, non-League football's most successful manager. And tonight the man charged with taking struggling Conference side Kingstonian into the fifth round of the FA Cup will hope luck follows him to a certain hotel. Chapple has used the same hotel, near Aldershot, en route to reaching five FA Trophy finals - three with Woking and two more with Kingstonian - and preparations for the fourth-round replay with Bristol City will not be altered.
Despite the prize of a trip to Leicester City, however, Chapple remains more concerned with his club's plight in the Conference relegation zone. The man who once guided Woking to an FA Cup win at West Bromwich Albion said: "I'm totally relaxed about the occasion. If we go out, we go out. Fine. It's our League form that's got to be addressed. People say we're too good to go down but that doesn't mean a thing because league tables don't lie.
"We might have games in hand but we've got to string some results together. Doncaster on Saturday is the most important thing for me." In the original tie, Phil Wingfield's goal appeared enough to send Kingstonian into the last 16, but they were denied by Tony Thorpe's equaliser in added time.
"I won't have any problems lifting them. It's another complete one-off," Chapple said. "They know what's at stake and if they want it bad enough, they've got to go out there and get it. "I want us to give a good account of ourselves. There's no fear in me that we might lose. What will be, will be." |
