Isthmian League resignation |
The club received the following letter from the Football Association at the end of last week and Club Secretary Graham Richards has confirmed that Kingstonian FC will resign from the Isthmian Football League by the 31st December 2003 deadline. 18 December 2003
To all Premier Division clubs in Isthmian, Southern and Northern Premier Leagues.
Dear Sirs/Madam
THE RESTRUCTURE OF THE NATIONAL LEAGUE SYSTEM
I refer to the restructure of the National League System and in particular the issues surrounding the creation of the two new leagues at Step 2 of the new structure, namely Conference North and South and the need to clarify the position with regard to resignations from your current leagues.
You will all have received correspondence from the "Alliance Committee" indicating that clubs should resign from your current competitions in accordance with League Rules. I would confirm that on 8 December 2003 the members of the "Alliance" discussed the issue of resignation of Clubs wishing to be considered for inclusion in Conference North and South. The Northern Premier and Southern Leagues reaffirmed that clubs in their competitions would not be required to resign and therefore, those clubs that are unsuccessful in securing a place in the new Conference North/South structure would not be penalised.
We have been advised that this matter has been discussed by the Isthmian League Board who are in agreement that any club that resigns from their League, in accordance with their Rules, then subsequently withdraws their resignation will not be penalised or disadvantaged in any way. This decision was subsequently reported to the National Game Board when they met on 15 December, at which Mr Alan Turvey [Isthmian League Chairman] was present.
We hope that this allays any fears held by Clubs relating to possible penalties in light of the on-going arbitration; the Isthmian Football League Ltd v The Football Association Ltd and Others. In the meantime, the "Alliance" Committee continues to meet with all four leagues involved working together to ensure a successful transition for the commencement of season 2004/2005. At the same time, work is also progressing on the development of a National Ground Grading document, which will standardise ground criteria across the various Steps in the National League System.
I hope that this clarifies the position for you. If, however you have any further points that require clarification, then please do not hesitate to contact me.
Kind regards,
Yours faithfully
Geoff Thompson Chairman
Cc: The Football Conference, The Isthmian League, The Northern Premier League, The Southern League. |

Saturday 20th December 2003 |
Kingstonian 3-1 Maidenhead United |
Three second-half goals earned K's a much needed three points against Maidenhead at Kingsmeadow this afternoon.
An own-goal from Magpies' goalkeeper Gary Phillips handed K's the lead, but an equaliser with eight minutes left looked to have secured a point for the visitors.
But K's came back, and goals from Chris Bangura and Grant Payne could have been added to by Liam Collins and Stafford Browne as K's moved back into the top thirteen.
Full details of the match can be found here. |

Craig Lewington |
Secretary Graham Richards reports: I have spoken to Craig this morning and he sustained a very deep two inch square hole in his leg last night after the late two footed studs up tackle on him, which connected on his thighs. The hospital could only put three stitches in but cleaned the wound out and have put him on a course of antibiotics. I have passed on the very best wishes of everybody at the club to him and all being well he will be coming to watch us against Maidenhead United this Saturday. |
Tuesday 16th December 2003 |
Hornchurch 1-0 Kingstonian |
A twenty-fifth minute strike from former QPR man Bradley Allen was enough to secure the points for Hornchurch. The Urchins lost captain Steve West in the first half through injury whilst Craig Lewington was stretchered off for the K's in the second period - both were taken to hospital.

Peter Crawt's funeral |
From Peter's brother David:
Dear friends,
I now have full details of Peter's Funeral.
It will take place at Kingston Crematorium at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday the 18th of December.
There is nothing planned for after the service. Mum and I have a long journey so we'd rather set off home than prolong the proceedings with an after service union.
You can send flowers if you wish or make a donation to 'The K's Trust'; the choice is yours.
Peter was a life-long supporter of the K's, just like me, our father before us, and his father before that.
Floral tributes (or donations) should be sent to:
FuneralCare 177 Kings Road Kingston-upon-Thames KT2 5JG
Flowers to arrive at FuneralCare by 11:30 on 18/12/03.
David Crawt. |
