Update from Alan Dowson
Manager Alan Dowson comments, "We're back in for pre-season training on Monday and really looking forward to it. The challenge is to carry forward the momentum and a good pre-season programme should help get us there.

"We've picked our home games carefully so that they are a big challenge to the team, as well as appealing to the fans. There's a lot planned for the Woking game, and both they and Hampton are strong sides from the Conference league.

"West Ham are a top Premiership club and whilst they've got obligations in China over the summer, they won't be taking everyone. They're renowned for bringing some of the very best players through the ranks so it will be a quality team either way.

"I've heard some comments on the lack of transfer activity, but there are only so many contracts we can give out and after that we will only announce other deals when they're signed. We've got some good players joining up with us in pre-season but it would be wrong to alert other clubs as to who they are at this stage."

Kingstonian Legends v Woking Legends
A special 'legends match' has been arranged as part of the pre-season friendly with Woking on Saturday 18th July.

This small-sided game will take place in front of the main stand at 2pm, and to mark his standing at both clubs, Geoff Chapple will be taking the unique role of managing both teams.

Names of participating players and other activities will be announced next week, but in the meantime the following have been confirmed:

  • Kingstonian - Francis Vines, Phil Wingfield, Eddie Akuamoah, Matt Crossley, Scott Corbett, Geoff Pitcher, Gary Patterson

  • Woking - Trevor Baron, Laurence Batty, Scott Steele, Andy Clement, Glenn Cockerill, Martin Tyler

  • Manager Alan Dowson comments, "Both clubs have a rich history and it's a great to get these players back for an event like this. We've had a lot of interest already and hopefully a lot of people will turn up for what should be an excellent day.

"Me, Martin and Hamsy fancy getting our boots on to give it a go - I think we'll be the 'leg-ends' though!"

The opponents are a team of Australians and New Zealanders who all have international experience of some sort, ie: youth, U21's, U23's, B-internationals.

The night will be themed so dress for the antipodean occasion! A barbie will be flaming through the evening and there will be a free tinnie for each adult spectator. Bonza! Admission is just £6, and there will be a complimentary bus service running between Raynes Park train station and the Grand Drive ground.

Manager Alan Dowson comments, "This one's a bit different but we'll face a tough test as it's against a talented group of players who are coming over to make an impression to join English clubs. They're very keen to play against us and we're making an effort to make it a good night for everyone."

    Craig Mullen
Forward Craig Mullen has been released to take up a place at Bath University. Craig was a product of the youth setup, signing his first contract with the club upon turning 18 and scoring 5 goals in 13 appearances for the senior team.

Manager Alan Dowson comments, "We're disappointed to lose Craig as he came through really well last season but this is a great opportunity to push on with his education as he's a bright young lad. I don't know how things are going at Team Bath but I'm sure he'll get himself playing in the area and hope to see him back with us one day."
