Kingstonian 1-1 Corinthian-Casuals
1-1 1-1 1-1 1-1

Kingstonian fans have suffered a lot of heartache in the last five and a half years, but at matches the fans' spirits have always been remarkably bright. Even in the dismal 2004/5 season, when the team finished a humiliating 22 points below safety, K's fans remained incredibly supportive of their players, cheering them off even after some very heavy defeats.

Those were different times though, as with the club in turmoil off the field, the players were seen as heroes battling against the odds. A poor run of form this year though, that has seen the club fail to win in nine games, without such mitigating circumstances away from the pitch, saw the supporters so frustrated that for the first time in a long while Kingstonian were booed off the pitch by their own fans.

Their increasingly frustrated followers were showing their disillusion with a team that has neither creativity going forward nor solidity at the back. The squad has been in constant upheaval and good players have left, despite the club having a playing budget that is decent for the league it is in - and quite obviously higher than that of amateur opponents Corinthian-Casuals, who K's failed to beat for the fourth time in fourteen months.

Kingstonian could not really bemoan their luck either. Casuals had the better of the first half and Luke Gay gave them a deserved lead with a fine angled shot after his namesake Garrard had already saved well from Aaron Cole-Bolt and Casuals had sent a couple more efforts narrowly over.

The closest K's came to scoring before the interval was when a Glenn Boosey cross bounced goalwards off Chris Horwood, but Scott Hassell saved his blushes with a goal-line clearance. Beyond that, two Dean Lodge crosses failed to produce a shot on target when one bobbled over Tony Reid's foot and Boosey volleyed the other over.

The second half was better for K's. A Lodge shot was parried away for a corner and then Martyn Lee was brought off the bench. Lee's touch and creativity helped K's to find more attacking impetus although the equaliser did not come until the 69th minute. A Lodge cross was headed into the ground by Reid and sat nicely for Adolph Amoako to volley past Colin Harris.

Casuals might have regained the lead when Garrard parried a drive from Andy Davidson, but Jon Coke did well to clear before the strikers could pounce. Garrard made another good save late on and in injury time K's had two chances, but it was all too little too late - Jamie Jarvis' header was saved and Tommy Moorhouse headed wide after an excellent Reid cross.

A draw was probably a fair result in a game of equal, but relatively few chances. Kingstonian fans are beginning to despair at the form of their club though - when everyone has caught up their games in hand K's will be easily in the bottom half of the table and if this form continues for another month then they will be in danger of becoming entangled in the relegation battle in this very close division.
