Chipstead 2-3 Kingstonian
K'S FRY THE CHIPS

Four days after the failing in Fleet, Kingstonian fried the Chips with two goals from Bobby Traynor and one from Liam Collins.

A second half revival by hosts Chipstead made sure the game was tighter but the fourth minute strike from Collins and then a lob after the half hour and a second half penalty from top scorer Traynor secured all three welcome points.

Collins pounced on the ball after a poor stop by Chipstead keeper James Wastell saw a shot from Carl Wilson-Denis bounce back for Collins to loop the ball over him from distance. Collins had set up the move when he crossed in from the left. Four minutes gone and one goal up.

Then in the 38th minute another lob - this time from Traynor - saw Wastell picking the ball out of the net after Wilson-Denis picked out Traynor. And in the second half he converted his second goal from the spot after Dean Lodge was bought down in the area by Nathan Campbell as he tried to stifle more pressure from the visitors.

But within minutes Luke Garrard was in Wastell's position facing the deadly penalty kick and then a second with minutes remaining flattered the home side.

Following on from the Hampshire horror show, Kingstonian came out of the starting block quickly and Collins' shot past a stranded Wastell in goal gave the visitors a deserved advantage. But soon Baptiste Bogle had Garrard diving and first a spectacular kick went over the bar and then another had the keeper snatching at it.

That was as good as it got from the hosts in this half with Traynor shooting low and wide from a short pass in by Wilson-Denis on 23 minutes and then Wastell pushing the ball away from a shot off Collins.

Almost on the half hour Collins then shot over after Traynor fed Wilson-Denis, who accurately found Collins. Within minutes Collins was the provider and Traynor the one to miss as he shot over too. However amends were made with Traynor outfoxing Wastell with a well-timed lob over the keeper.

The first half could have seen more with Simon Huckle heading over from a corner and then Nick Rundell's free kick going out.

The re-start saw much of the same as Ks continued to press. Within minutes Traynor latched onto a Collins' cross but headed wide. Then he shot over - this time with his foot. And then in the 60th minute a one-two with Wilson-Denis saw the ball pushed out and behind by Wastell.

Five minutes later Traynor once more faced Wastell but this time the chance was not wasted as his strike beat a diving Wastell from the penalty spot, after Lodge was once more bought down - this time in the area.

However within three minutes it was Garrard, sat the other end, facing the lone strike off the spot as Adam Thompson, back in the side for the first time for a bit, was judged to have fouled Dominic O'Shea. Gavin Quintyne coolly blasted the ball into the net.

Wind in their sails and Chipstead saw Oakins denied by a tip away from Garrard and then Josh Smith was guilty of an easier miss when his low ball went wide of the far post. And with the game heading towards a worthy Ks' win O'Shea headed wide and then Jordan Kiffin, on his home debut, put the ball past a diving Garrard for Chipstead's second.

Almost from the restart Collins forced Wastell into tipping out and then at the other end, deep into injury time, substitute Josh Smith found himself on the floor when Traynor came in hard. From the free kick the ball then went wide.

Once again defensive frailties nearly cost Kingstonian although with a three goal cushion this would have to have been disastrous if they were to lose. On the positive side the goals are starting to flow again.
