Corinthian-Casuals 2-5 Kingstonian

A second half littered with goals, including two in a minute, saw Kingstonian back to their free scoring winning ways as they beat local rivals Corinthian-Casuals by five goals to two.

Off the back of two cup defeats and a draw to the Met Police, an early goal by Tommy Williams soon settled nerves at King George's Field. Seconds after the break Bobby Traynor doubled up the score, and then Carl Wilson-Denis added to the score with a shop past the advancing goalkeeper and a header minutes later before an injury time shot by NJ Lampton after a move the length of the pitch.

There could have easily been more with Simon Huckle being the first to be denied by Colin Harris in goal when a header on by Wayne Finnie found his feet only in the second minute.

Minutes later Byron running up the right crossed into Steve Omonua but Luke Garrard was more than equal to the task. However it was not long before the visitors broke through and in the 12th minute Wilson Denis crossed into Williams and with Williams looking to cross into the box he found a way past Harris on the far post and almost in slow motion the ball rebounded back of the post beyond the keeper's hands and into the back of the net.

A minute later Traynor nearly added when his right footed chip landed on the top of the net near the crossbar. Then when Wilson-Denis disposed a defender 25 yards out he shot goalwards only for Harris diving to the left to save easily.

A mistake by Max Hustwick then gave Casuals their best chance of the half with almost a repeat of the previous chance the other way and once again there was no goal as this time Paul Hunt shot over the bar.

Dean Lodge then had the chance to add to his already impressive goal tally but was unable to chip the advancing keeper after being released by Huckle.

On the half hour Jason Turley replaced an injured Finnie. Soon after Turley set up another attack when his pass found Lodge, who passed to Wilson=Denis. His shot skied towards the left. The first half began to drift as both teams kept the ball around the middle of the pitch. Striker Hunt had to be helped off in the dying minutes with Joe McNerney making his debut. Later it emerged he had broken his leg.

If the first half had died a death, the second half began frenetically. Only a goal up, Ks left it mere seconds to double that lead with Traynor moving to the right latching onto Wilson-Denis' cross and shooting beyond Harris. Within a minute the home side had reduced the deficit with Matt Smith shooting beyond a diving Garrard.

The home side continued to press and Joe Nwoko was denied minutes later by Garrard from a break up the right. Inevitably another goal was in the offing and Nwoko shot past Garrard after a lone break on the right.

With that the game then went back to playing midfield until the inspired introduction of Lampton in the 65th minute for Turley, himself a sub in the first half. Within minutes from a long patient build-up, Williams shot over the bar from 35 yards out. Then Traynor shot wide after picking up Lodge's header from Jon Coke's throw in. Again Lodge was ready to launch another attack but his high ball from the left found Harris again with Wilson-Denis coming in.

With 15 minutes remaining and the match set level, Wilson-Denis picked up a pass from Traynor and shot beyond Harris to regain the lead. Within a minute Lodge failed to pick up a flick from Williams. Then Wilson-Denis was unable to chip the goalkeeper as he ran into the area with the defence left alone.

With Wilson-Denis rampant against such a defence, he then scored his second within six minutes and K's fourth. Traynor ran up the left and found Lodge. His cross found Wilson-Denis' head and then the ball was in the back of the net. Lodge then was taken off - his job done. Julien Thompson coming on.

With the visitors now cruising, the coup de grace was kicked in by late substitute Lampton with a long shot upfield by Garrard finding both Traynor and Wilson-Denis before Lampton beat Harris for a fifth goal.

After two consecutive cup defeats, albeit one was against a team two divisions above them, and a tiring draw on Monday, a comprehensive win was one recommended by the doctor. It leaves the team six points ahead and a goal difference apart from the division. At long as this free scoring continues then the winter looks bright at Kingsmeadow and away.
