URCHINS THROWN A LIFELINE

Rob Tolfrey has already won Kingstonian numerous points with his heroics since arriving from Horsham but no position is crueller than goalkeeper when you have a bad day at the office.

Kingstonian were cruising a goal to the good against Hornchurch when Jamie Dormer aimlessly hoofed the ball towards the Kingstonian goal. It was going wide but Tolfrey's attempt to catch the ball went horribly wrong, as the ball slipped through his hands and deflected into the empty net. The goal has some 500 views on YouTube but, as Harrow striker Rocky Baptiste will testify, is the sort of howler that could easily have gone viral and racked up 5,000,000.

Ks could consider themselves even - they gained two points earlier in the season thanks to Maidstone's Jamie Turner making an equally bad mistake - but that fact did little to cheer Ks fans up at the time.

Ks had always looked in control of the game. They had taken the lead in the 34th minute when Dean Lodge, so often left on the bench recently, cracked in a twenty-yarder after being teed up by Carl Wilson-Denis. Wilson-Denis and Bashiru Alimi also came close before the break as Ks looked to put an end to a run of poor results away from Kingsmeadow.

After the break, Darren Behcet saved well from Simon Huckle and then Lodge as Ks failed to double their advantage. It was Hornchurch who equalised though and from that point on they looked the more likely to win all three points.

Tolfrey did well to save a header from Ronnie Fletcher and in the closing minutes he also had to save an effort from Ross Wall. Substitute Bobby Traynor tried to save his blushes by winning the game in injury time but Behcet blocked his long-range effort and Tolfrey was left to rue his mistake.
