Kingstonian 4-2 Hendon
Kingstonian progressed past FA Cup conquerors Hendon and through to the next round of the FA Trophy.
Three up with ten minutes to go, three more goals saw them come through 4-2 as Bobby Traynor, Matt Gray, Carl Wilson-Denis and substitute Christian Jolley all found themselves on the scoresheet. Jolley scored in the remaining topsy-turvy last few minutes.
Having been dumped out of the FA Cup at Wembley by Hendon, Ks needed to exact revenge and it took less than 10 minutes to wreak havoc up front. Simon Huckle knocked down a speculative shot into the area by Dean Lodge, and Traynor was on hand to put it past the diving James Reading in goal.
And that was after Traynor had been denied by Reading earlier as he pushed a shot round the corner and Simon Huckle saw his header well gathered on the ground by Reading.
For Hendon, Peter Dean had seen his shot spilled by Luke Garrard, starting again in goal after the departure up north by Ashlee Jones, who must have been grateful for Huckle's clearance.
However it was Hendon's 'keeper Reading who was busier as Ks pressed forward. Wilson-Denis shot beyond the far post, from Traynor's weighted pass, in the 16th minute; and then minutes later Lodge found his cross in becoming a scoring chance. Reading once again dived well to deny a second goal. Wilson-Denis then was denied by a timely tackle.
Wilson-Denis was once again denied as Reading saved low to the ground but immediately a counter attack saw Scott Cousins shoot over the bar. Bashiru Alimi in midfield was then denied by a late tackle. But if the home side felt they were winning Dean replied within the minute, only to hit the near side netting.
The first half ended with Wilson-Denis, Huckle and Lodge going close: the last, a looping shot, saved well by Reading in injury time. Within minutes of the re-start Gray poached off a by-line cross in by Alimi from the left and the hosts were now two goals up.
Still they pressed and Reading denied Lodge from Gray's corner within minutes. Wilson-Denis did make it three when he picked up a throw in from Gray and shot low from close range. Traynor then came down but referee Lee Venamore decided that keeper Reading had got to the ball early enough.
A double substitution saw Bulgarian Lubomir Guentchev and Glenn Garner replace striker Dean and the Hendon skipper James Parker. Garner was quickly into the action and a 75th-minute shot was tipped over by Garrard as he went for a 40-yard shot. Sensing victory, Ks then replaced Lodge with Lewis Cook and soon after Wilson-Denis with Jolley. However a header from the substitute Guentchev went over the outstretched arms of Garrard.
Two minutes later he managed to come out enough to deny Garner. And with the game ending Cook was denied by the side netting from a free kick at the other end.
However two more goals were still to come in injury time as first Garner shot to the left from 30 yards, only to see Ks push straight up the other end and Jolley score when the ball broke loose as Reading denied Traynor.
At the other end James Bent found the back of the net to restore respectability to the scoreline.
A third meeting this season between the two teams - only one in the league and for the first time at home - saw a second win for rampant Ks.
