Kingstonian 2-0 Folkestone Invicta
That's all Folkes-tone

If Ks are to haul themselves back into the playoffs by the end of the season, then a game such as this simply had to be won. It was, although not necessarily in as comfortable a manner as a glance at the league table may have suggested. Folkestone Invicta showed an obduracy that belied their place at the foot of the Ryman Premier, but a Tom Bird free kick eventually broke them down.

Bird was the first man to have a shot on goal, firing wide in the sixth minute. James Everitt forced Tolfrey to tip a header over, before Sam Clayton shot over for Ks. Ks had the ball in the net in the 21st minute, but Tom Hutchinson's header was ruled out for offside. Tolfrey had to remain vigilant, with the ball going wide after a goalmouth scramble, before Paul Vines hit the corner of post and crossbar with a close-range lob.

Vines was again close to giving Ks the lead on 39 minutes after a Simon Huckle cross, but was sent crashing into the post before he could convert from close range. Ks' penalty shouts were denied, and things could have got worse two minutes later when a Max Hustwick backpass put Rob Tolfrey under pressure. His clearance hit Josh Burchell, but the goalkeeper gathered the rebound and the sides went into the break level.

Darren Smith chipped over for Invicta after the break, and Ks struggled to get into the half until the 58th minute introduction of Dean Lodge. Bashiru Alimi headed a Bobby Traynor cross wide but the deadlock was eventually broken on 65 minutes. Bird hit a perfect free kick just above the wall, which snuck inside Jack Delo's near post to put Alan Dowson's side ahead.

Ks controlled the game well after this point, and Folkestone had to increasingly expose themselves defensively in the chase of an equaliser. They flashed a header across goal from an 80th minute corner, but Lodge then led a counter-attack from which substitute Allan Tait nearly equalised.

Folkestone were granted five minutes of injury time to find an equaliser, but Josh Vincent missed the target from distance, a header gave Tolfrey an easy save and Gary Lockyer blasted over. As the visitors' shape increasingly broke down, Ks twice got behind their lines. Delo saved well from Tait but less than a minute later Lodge was able to round him and secure three vital points.
