Kingstonian 3-5 Wealdstone

Depending on your point of view you may have either thought the fireworks had arrived early, as 6 goals were scored in the first 36 minutes, or you would have thought it was a Halloween Horror as a porous K's defence conceded five.

The scoring started as early as forty seconds in as Wealdstone's Peter Dean scored with a volley, neatly clipping in a cross from the right. Three minutes later Kingstonian were level as a Gray free kick from 25 yards took a small deflection before finding the back of the net. It only took another minute before Wealdstone were in front again as Ngoyi was fed in and made no mistake from 12 yards.

Not surprisingly the match started to settle down as both teams gathered their breath. However it was not long before Kingstonian levelled for the second time in the 22nd minute. Traynor had his heels clipped as he ran on to a clever through ball from Lodge and the referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot and deciding to only show the offending Locke a yellow card. Traynor made no mistake as he expertly dispatched the penalty low to the keepers right.

Given what had already gone on it was no surprise to see Wealdstone take the lead for the third time. Thompson conceded a corner with a mishit back pass and from the resulting cross Tolfrey initially did very well to save a close range header but with the ball bobbling around Kingstonian were unable to clear their lines and it finally fell to Ngoyi to fire home from close range.

Kingstonian continued to look uncertain at the back as Wealdstone broke at will with the lively Dean cleverly pulling the strings. The next clear chance fell to Spendlove in the 32nd minute as he deftly deflected a low cross which Tolfrey did well to keep out. But as much as they looked uncertain at the back, Kingstonian continued to look dangerous going forward with Lodge now enjoying his most influential period of the game as he continually ran at the Wealdstone defence.

Kingstonian incredibly pulled themselves level once again in the 36th minute with a cleverly worked corner. Gray passed short to Traynor who floated in a teasing cross which Hustwick headed in from close range. The K's now finally enjoyed some sustained pressure in the run in to half time with Clayton coming closest, hitting the post with a deflected shot.

Both teams reshuffled their start ups for the second half with Huckle coming on for Jinadu and Thompson dropping back from midfield to centre half in an attempt to tighten up the back line. Wealdstone replaced their right back, Parker, who had been severely tested by Lodge and picked up a booking in the process.

Wealdstone took the lead for the fourth time in the 53rd minute following a mix up at the back as Hustwick, under no pressure, dwelled on the ball too long and miss hit a pass to Tolfrey which allowed Dean to nip in, round the keeper and cross for Ngoyi to complete his hat-trick from one yard.

In what was to prove a crucial turning point in the 66th minute, Alimi mistimed his header from close range as he was left unmarked at a corner and saw the ball screw agonisingly wide. Three minutes later, as Kingstonian pressed forward in search of yet another equaliser, they were caught on the counter as Wealdstone broke at pace with three attackers against three defenders. Spendlove cut inside as the space opened up in front of him and demonstrated good composure to steer the ball past Tolfrey with the outside of his foot.

This fifth goal appeared to knock the stuffing out of Kingstonian and although they enjoyed further chances they lacked their earlier level of goal threat. In a double change Bird and Robinson came on for Clayton and Hamlin with 10 minutes to go, but it was to no avail as the goal fest finally petered out.
