Hednesford Town 2-3 Kingstonian
A game which was delayed by half an hour due to traffic congestion saw K's record a good away victory. The goals came from Geoff Pitcher, Gary Drewett and Mark Harris.

Result round-up
Toady's results mean that Sutton are relegated and Kidderminster are Champions - congratulations to them. The other two relegation spots still look to be up for grabs, although it seems likely that the two will come from the Woking, Altrincham, Welling and Forest Green group.

Kingstonian FC Extraordinary General Meeting
Today's Extraordinary General Meeting passed the proposal "That Robert Woolfson, Terry Weir, and Peter Gellard be and are hereby removed from their office as directors of the Company with immediate effect" by around 95,000 votes to 4,000 votes. Peter Gellard had handed in his resignation before the meeting and was absent, as were both Woolfson and Weir. Geoff Chapple was also nowhere to be seen, perhaps wisely keeping his mind on the football. Thanks to Ali for this.

Gary Patterson to throw himself at the mercy of the FA
Gary Patterson will throw himself at the mercy of an FA hearing into his Easter red card. The date of the hearing is still to be set, but it seems to be totally up to the FA what punishment to hand down.

However, we now hear that the referee, Mr.T.Kettle, has been reported for his performance by an assessor at the game, and the player fouled for the second caution has admitted to diving. Meanwhile, the Informer reports that Chapple is "99% certain" that Patterson will miss Wembley. Intriguing.

Conference clubs to play in the Auto Windscreens Shield?
It is rumoured (again) that next year's Auto-Windscreens competition, which currently involves clubs from the second and third divisions, will include some teams from the Conference. The definite details are un-clear as it is claimed that ex-league clubs Hereford, Doncaster and Scarborough will be invited irrespective of their final league position. But it does make it certain that there is still something to play for in the remaining six league games.

Monday 24th April 2000
Hereford United 0-2 Kingstonian
Gary Patterson was sent off for the third time this season, as K's secured their first ever win at Edgar Street. The goals came from Mark Harris and Geoff Pitcher. We're not sure whether this means that Patto will miss the trip to Wembley or not.
[top of the page]
Result round-up
Kettering hit six against Northwich to all but asure their Conference survival, whilst Woking helped their cause with a one-nil home win against Telford. Kidderminster now need just one more point to secure the title after today's last minute win at Dover. K's move up to seventh, just six points behind third placed Scarborough.

Hayes and Forest Green match reports
The reports of the Hayes semi-final and yesterday's loss to Forest Green are now finished.
[top of the page]
Saturday 22nd April 2000
Kingstonian 0-1 Forest Green Rovers
Forest Green picked up a vital three points in their quest to avoid the drop against the same team which hit six last Tuesday.
[top of the page]
Result round-up
Both Sutton and Welling lost whilst Woking matched Forest Green's performance, but both Surrey sides still sit in the bottom three. Managerless Doncaster could be a late entry in this year's relegation fight after a one-nil loss at home to Dover. K's are now (and only now) mathematically safe after Welling's loss.

At the other end of the table, Kidderminster now need just four points to be sure of promotion to the Football League after today's win over Northwich, which came at the same time as Rushden's two-one loss at Southport.
[top of the page]
Boston and Dagenham gain promotion
The feeder league program saw two teams coming up to next year's Conference. Boston United beat Grantham three-one at home to claim the Doc Martens promotion spot, and a four-nil loss by Aldershot meant that Dagenham and Redbridge's three-two win at Hampton was enough to secure the Ryman League title. Leigh RMI remain on course to win the Unibond Premier.

NMT Final details
The NMT final will be a one-legged affair against (managerless - see below) Doncaster Rovers, played on Monday May 8th. It will almost certainly be played at Doncaster although we have heard that there is a chance that it might be played at Kingsmeadow. Fingers crossed.

Result round-up
Just 463 saw Sutton lose two-one to Scarborough to see them still three points adrift at the foot of the table.

Times: Telford make priority plain
From today's Times (there's a bit about K's at the bottom):

Telford make priority plain by Walter Gammie

SUCH is the scale of the ambition at Telford United that securing the club's place in the Nationwide Conference is undeniably more important than pursuing a sixth Wembley appearance in the FA Umbro Trophy final.

Spectators at the all-ticket semi-final second leg at Bucks Head on Saturday, which Telford start trailing Kettering Town 1-0, will clearly see why. The area behind one goal is cordoned off as a stand is being pulled down. In 18 months' time Telford, thanks to Andy Shaw, their chairman, will have a 9.5 million stadium, facilities that will include a hotel, and a full-time squad that he hopes will be banging on the door of the Nationwide League.

Jake King, the manager, who started his second spell at the club a month ago, has seen the side move four points clear of the relegation places with successive home wins over Kettering and Sutton United. "We've got the second-best home record after Kidderminster," he said. "They've won 15 matches at home, and we've won 11. It's a different matter away from home, where we're the only side not to win a match. I think we've shown a bit of a lack of character."

He feels that his recruitment of the experienced Neil Moore, Brian Gayle, Gary Martindale and Roger Preece, the player-coach, has already helped to solve that difficulty and make good the spate of injuries endured by Alan Lewer, his predecessor. "We'll need to," King said, "We finish the season with six away matches. I'm positive and I'm sure we'll do it." The next test is tonight away to Southport.

A frustrated spectator at the other semi-final will be David Leworthy, the Kingstonian striker, who scored the winning goal in the quarter-final replay away to Southport. "I was limping at the time," he said. "I'd got a split in a cartilage from a tackle. I had a minor operation to take out a little bit of the cartilage and tidy up around the knee. I hope to be back for the last couple of weeks of the season."

Leworthy saw enough spirit from Sutton in the first leg not to dismiss their chances, despite Kingstonian having held them to a 1-1 draw and having home advantage on Saturday. He feels, nevertheless, that Kingstonian are approaching their best form again, helped by the success of new blood brought in by Geoff Chapple, the manager.

If Amara Simba, a France international who scored the goals that beat Scarborough 2-0 on Saturday is, at 38, at Leworthy's end of the age spectrum, Ronnie Green, promoted from the youth team, is only 18. The competition for a place at Wembley if he regains fitness could, Leworthy admits, be fierce. There is no doubting how much it would mean to return there after his side's 1-0 win over Forest Green Rovers last year.

"I was surprised," Leworthy said. "The day goes so quick. One moment you are arriving, the next you're in the bath after the game. It was such a big occasion, the 20,000 crowd generated such an atmosphere that with the great tradition of the place I'd love to get back again."

Apologies for the recent problems
Huge apologies for the problems with accessing the site over the last few days - these were caused by a complaint to the K's Web hosts. However, things have now been returned to normal and hopefully the complainant can let things rest as everybody else has done. We ask that people allow this episode to die and not use the forum to discuss it. Many thanks.

Kingstonian 2-0 Scarborough
Amara Simba scored both goals in the first half to give K's a convincing win over Scarborough and a "double" over the ex-league side. Scarborough also had a man sent off in the first half.
[top of the page]
Result round-up
The top-of-the-table clash went the way of Kidderminster as Rushden lost two-nil. This match was watched by a crowd of 6,250. The bottom three places are occupied by Woking, Welling and Sutton - K's move up to seventh.

Thursday 6th April 2000
Kingstonian 0-0 Hereford United
Another end of season game ended in a nil-nil draw. Amara Simba struck the bar and Ronnie Green missed a great chance late on, but other than that there's little to read about in the report.

Matches re-arranged
The Hayes semi-final, which was postponed this week, will now take place on Thursday April 20th. The Altrincham away game, originally scheduled for this date, will now be played on Wednesday May 3rd. It looks likely that the final of the MacMillan Trophy will become a one-legged affair.
