Free entry for children - Surrey County FA presentation
Kingstonian FC have pleasure in announcing that for the second time this season, all children accompanied by an adult will be allowed into a home league match for free. The selected match is versus Bedford Town on Saturday 21st December 2002 at Kingsmeadow Stadium, kick-off 3pm.

The weekend of 20th-22nd December 2002 is also when the Football Association are launching their Charter Standard Community Scheme nationwide. This is the pinnacle of the Charter Standard Awards Scheme and on this weekend they would like the first 100 clubs in the country to be presented with their award. This is also to highlight the award nationally.

In this respect Kingstonian FC are proud to announce that they have been asked by the Surrey County FA to assist and allow the presentation of the first award(s) in Surrey to Kew Park Rangers FC and one other club who will be announced in due course, at the Bedford Town game. The K's were of course delighted to accept this proud honour.

This is all part of the initiative to make K's a family club which already boasts a Family Enclosure, the Junior K's, the link with Kingston College which has seen several players appear in the first team and Kingstonian Youth FC which covers under-16 down to under-9. There will also be additional fixtures before the end of season where children will be allowed in for free.

thefa.com: Sedgley's special K's
The following article is from thefa.com:

Sedgley's special K's by Tony Incenzo

Steve Sedgley's Kingstonian are making up for lost time after missing the start of the season due to off the field problems.

The Surrey team were suspended from playing football in August while they attended to their financial difficulties. But once the club's situation was resolved and matches belatedly began in early September, the K's started a rich vein of form.

Kingstonian currently lie sixth in the Ryman League Premier Division - ten points behind leaders Aldershot Town but with three games in hand.

For Sedgley, 34, the whole episode has been a baptism of fire in his first job in management. He made 459 League appearances for Coventry, Spurs, Ipswich and Wolves, but non-League football is a different world.

Sedgley said: "I've been in charge about a year now. It has been difficult because we only came out of financial administration a couple of months ago. So I have no money to add to the squad. But I am fortunate with the players I have kept. There is good quality here. The lads have listened and worked hard and it is all credit to them that we have been getting results so far this season.

"I have just come in and enjoyed the experience, to be honest. I am part-time here and it is like a part-time job for all of us. So you get used to players going to their day jobs and then coming in for training in the evening. I have had to adapt to this level. You can't try to do too many professional things. For example, you can't have a full day's training. And if you try to load too much on the lads then they are not used to doing it. You have to respect how they've been brought up in non-League football and what they are accustomed to.

"In saying that, there are certain things that pros do that can be used at non-League level. Silly little things like having a pre-match meal before the game. We have been trying that. But the non-League players are used to going to work and then coming straight in to play a game of football, so if you change too much then they cannot adapt to it."

Despite being part of the fledgling championship race, Sedgley is demanding that the K's keep their foot on the accelerator. He feels there is no room for complacency.

He said: "We have had a good start to the season but you have to build on that. We need to brush up on a few points because I don't want us to fall away. There is still a lot of hard work to be done. We have had to play a bit of catch-up after missing the opening games of the season and now we have got ourselves in a good position.

"Expectations become higher when you have a decent start. Before the season, I don't think anyone would have expected us to do well. I thought we would do OK so I am not surprised by what the players have done. They are a good set of lads. But nothing is won in November. So we will be looking to keep it going on to Christmas period, come out the other side into the New Year and that is when you can really kick on."

In fact, Sedgley is confident that Kingstonian can lift the Ryman League championship this season and win promotion to the Conference.

"I feel we can make an impact in the title chase. You need good form and a bit of luck with injuries. The next seven or eight weeks are vitally important for the entire season. And if we are going well at Christmas, hopefully I may have a little bit more money to strengthen the squad because that is what you need.

"I think the title is there to be won. All the top sides have been losing games and there have been some surprise results. I think it will go to the wire and it will be won by the team with the best mental strength."

Greg Ball's leg
Greg Ball sent the following the other day - we're sure everyone wishes him a speedy recovery.

I went to see the consultant on Tuesday night (22nd October), the results from the MRI scan showed a few problems, firstly the medial ligament had been torn almost 80% but should repair itself in time so I've got to stay in the leg brace for about another month until it's better. Meanwhile I'm going to a physio twice a week to get the movement back in my leg as I still can't bend it or straighten it properly yet. The other problem was that the anterior crutiate ligament had also been damaged!

So once I'm out of the brace I can start to exercise it in preparation for the operation that will be around Christmas time. Post-op it should be about 6-8 months before I can start to train again properly, so basically come pre-season I will be back training in some form - whether it is with the team or just personal training I can't say. But fingers crossed things will go well and the surgeon is one of the best in the country so I'm in good hands. So that's all there is to know for now, so let's just hope the team keeps winning, and I'll be back for the new season.

Results round-up
There was a mixed bag for the leading sides in today's three Ryman Premier games. Aldershot continued their fine away form with a comfortable victory at Chesham to move top of the table above St Albans who lost four-two to struggling Braintree, a result which leaves Ford and Hampton isolated at the bottom. Hayes and Hendon played out a goal-less draw in the other game.
