Spencer White RIP |
The club are saddened to hear of the passing of its oldest supporter and former President, Spencer White. The funeral will be held at Kingston Crematorium this Thursday 2nd August at 2.20pm. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.
The following piece by Stuart Amos has been reproduced courtesy of the Surrey Comet:
Former hatmaker to royalty, Kingstonian's oldest supporter Spencer White died last week after a brief spell in hospital.
The 98-year-old, a lifelong Ks fan, saw each of the club's major cup triumphs from the FA Amateur Cup triumph in 1933 to the two Wembley FA Trophy victories under Geoff Chapple in 1999 and 2000.
Born in Kingston in 1908, he lived in the borough all his life and had followed the club since being taken to see his first game in 1922 as a 14-year-old.
Spencer, who never married and lived most of his life in Clifton Road, served as a cook with the East Surrey Regiment during the Second World War, before becoming a hatter in London, where he made head gear for Edward VIII.
Described as an absolute gentleman, he rarely missed a home game at Ks - even in his later years. |

Ramsgate 2-1 Kingstonian |
The weekend trip to Ramsgate saw the hosts edge past Kingstonian two-one in a competitive pre-season game.
Luke Garrard returned from injury to start in goal and was called upon on a couple of occasions to deny the opposition, whilst Gavin Cartwright went closest at the other end in the first half.
K's made six changes during the interval and soon found themselves trailing after Michael Phillips volleyed home. Substitute Rob Sheridan, from the youth ranks, marked his first senior outing for Kingstonian with a close range equaliser in the 86th minutes, though Shaun Welford struck the winning goal for the Rams in the final minute.
Lineup:
1) Luke Garrard (Ini Amaeghe) 2) Jon Coke (Scott Corbett) 3) Simon Sobihy (Rob Sheridan) 4) Gavin Cartwright (Creag Wilson) 5) Tommy Moorhouse (Craig Dunne) 6) Wes Goggin (David Suchy) 7) Simon Huckle (Lee Riddell) 8) Liam Cockerill 9) Neil Lampton (Mark Jarman) 10) James Rose 11) Saheed Sankoh |

London Senior Cup |
The club have entered the London Senior Cup for the first time since season 1986/87 - when they won the tournament following a two-one win over Hampton at Southbury Road in Enfield. That was the last of eight final appearances by the club in the competition, with other victories coming in 1962/63 and 1964/65.
The draw for the third round sees Kingstonian travel to Erith and Belvedere in a match to be played by 10th November. The winners will be at home to either Welling United or Wealdstone.
The draw for the Surrey Senior Cup - the club's primary 'county' competition - has not yet been released. |

Richard Taylor |
Defender Richard Taylor has been released by the club, following a three year spell in which he made 119 appearances for the K's.
Alan Dowson comments, "Richard is a good lad and I've enjoyed working with him but there are a number of other players ahead of him now and I think that it will be best if he moved on to a new challenge. If he proves my decision to be a wrong one then so be it, but I certainly wish him all the best." |

Ground works |
The close-season has been a busy time at Kingsmeadow, with our friends at AFC Wimbledon re-seeding the pitch and installing new PVC windows along the front of the clubhouse building. The toilets at the Athletics End have also been fully refurbished; though due to what are deemed unnecessary insurance liabilities we will not be using them unless the size of crowd demands it.
Quite a lot of work has been done on the ground by volunteers, including some Kingstonian followers. A number of smaller jobs remain however and so a second 'help out at the ground' weekend has been arranged for next weekend, Saturday 21st July and Sunday 22nd July. Whether you have good DIY skills or just sheer enthusiasm, do come along and help put the final touches to the summer clear up. If you have any tools, spades, brooms, buckets etc then bring them with you - refreshments will be provided. |
Smoking ban |
Following the introduction of the national smoking ban, the club would like to advise supporters that as well as the clubhouse and all indoor areas, the main stand will now also be a non-smoking area. This does not affect the terraces. |

New training facilities |
Kingstonian Football Club are delighted to announce a deal with Kingston University to secure new training facilities for the coming season and beyond at the 55 acre Tolworth Court sports ground. See images of the venue and last night's training session here.
Joint-Chairman Malcolm Winwright comments, "We are excited and somewhat relieved to have finally found somewhere with a real desire to assist the club and develop a long term relationship with us. The site will shortly undergo a massive development project following a £1m grant from the Football Foundation to further enhance its facilities and that will benefit us all. This is clearly a big step forward for the town's University and, now also, Football Club."
Manager Alan Dowson adds, "We started training at Kingston University last week and I am delighted about the move. It's a big asset to know where we will be training every week, and we will benefit from the quality of facilities there. It's not just a one-way arrangement, as myself and my backroom staff will be on hand to lend support to the University on the footballing side of things." |

Ross Chalke |
Kingstonian Football Club are delighted to announce that midfielder Ross Chalke has signed a contract with the club.
Ross hit the headlines towards the end of last season after making his first team debut in the final league game of the season - just a week after turning 17. Having come through the K's ranks starting at U9's, Ross played 24 times for the Under 18's last season, scoring 16 goals in the process.
K's manager Alan Dowson comments, "Ross attracted a great deal of attention when he made his senior debut, and rightly so as he is a fine example to youngsters of all ages. There has been a strong bond between him and the club over the years and this contract is a culmination of that. League clubs are already aware of his ability, and we will always help a player should the opportunity arise to move on to bigger things. QPR have been keeping an eye on him whilst Millwall have invited him over to train with them next week." |

On your bike |
Sunday 15th July sees people from Kingstonian FC and Kingstonian Youth come together for a sponsored bike ride to raise funds for the Kingstonian U18's coming season.
A 10.30am start at Kingsmeadow will see a number of K's coaches and players from across the ranks and their supporters head off for the cycle to the Swan Pub in Walton upon Thames, which will be followed by a barbeque.
The U18's have completed their second season and are an important stepping stone in the K's ranks - towards the end of last season Mark Watkins and Ross Chalke came through to make their first team debuts and there will be no doubt others knocking on the senior teams door soon.
