Kingstonian 1-1 Margate (AET)
It will be Kingstonian who go on to face St Albans in the third qualifying round of the FA Cup after they beat Margate three-two in a penalty shoot out.

The visitors from Kent had opened the scoring midway through the first half when Wayne Wilson curled in a free kick. Lee Hall eventually got the K's response, in the 66th minute, but neither side was able to strike again. Margate were reduced to ten men in the second period of extra time as Shaun Welford picked up a second yellow card.

The opening five penalties in the shoot out were converted (taken by Thompson, Gray, Lodge for K's), whilst goalkeepers Rob Tolfrey and Jamie Turner saved the following five spot kicks between them (taken by Dali, Clayton for K's).

Margate 1-1 Kingstonian
Kingstonian and Margate will meet again in a replay on Monday night at Kingsmeadow after a one-all draw in their FA Cup tie at a windy Hartsdown Park today.

Former K's man James Pinnock opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, but the response was swift as Bobby Traynor slipped in an equaliser a minute later. Matt Gray had found time to strike the post in between the two strikes.

The hosts had a second half goal disallowed, whilst Lee Hall saw a fine effort bounce back off the crossbar in the closing stages.

Hendon 2-3 Kingstonian
Kingstonian survived a Hendon comeback to win an exciting game by three goals to two at Vale Farm. Full backs Tom Bird and Dean Hamlin scored for their first goals for the club in the 3rd and 23rd minutes before a curling Lee O'Leary strike halved the advantage going in to half time.

The hosts' increasing pressure told when Jamie Busby struck a 74th minute equaliser, though the parity lasted just a minute as Dean Lodge rounded the goalkeeper to net what would prove to be the winning goal.

Full details of the match are now available.

Gomez Dali
The club is pleased to announce the signing of striker Gomez Dali (21) from Woking.

Manager Alan Dowson comments, "Gomez has come over from France and tried out at a couple of pro clubs before joining Woking in the summer. They've had to let a couple of players go to bring their wage bill down and so he came along for training and did well. He's a got a bit of pace about him and will be in the squad for tonight's game.

Banquet has K's backs
Kingstonian Football Club is delighted to announce that Banquet Records have signed a new sponsorship deal which will see them join Prestige Cars and Couriers, on the back of the team playing kit. The club has enjoyed a successful relationship with Banquet, who over the past two seasons were primary shirt sponsor.

Alan Dowson comments, "We're very lucky to have such great sponsors in the club - from Chris Woolston at Prestige to Jon Tolley at Banquet. We're grateful for both of them in putting this latest deal together, as well as Peter Bowers who has liaised with supporter Scott Fotheringham to ensure the shirts were ready for our next game. Just when I thought we were looking at the back of Banquet, they're looking (good) on the back of us!"

Jon Tolley added, "We're delighted to formally renew our BACKing of Kingstonian FC. The Kingston community is our REARson d'etre and we're always keen to give BACK to Kingston in general, and specifically to K's."

Banquet boys Jon, Ollie, Tom and Sean are regular at K's games and as such are fully BEHIND the sponsorship. Tolley adds, "From back of the shirts, to back of the net, we'll be there every step of the vertebrae."

Players sponsor own match!
In a unique twist, tomorrow's match against Maidstone is being sponsored by the players and management themselves!

Manager Alan Dowson comments, "This is probably unheard of in football, especially the way the game is going these days. Players get paid as semi-pros in this league but we try to have ones down here who are willing to put back into the club in any way they can - I demand they put their spirit in if nothing else. A lot of it is not seen but this fine gesture is one chance to be noted."

Emily Ash Trust collection
There will be a bucket collection for the Emily Ash Trust at tomorrow's game, following Alan Dowson's recent visit to the charity which helps local children and their families suffering from leukaemia and other forms of cancer.

Update from Alan Dowson
Manager Alan Dowson comments, "There's been a few rumours flying around about who I may or may not be signing. As it stands, I'm having a close look at a couple of players at training, but I am also hopeful of signing Bas Savage.

"He's a top attacking player, who I've known since he was a youngster at Walton & Hersham - from where he went to Reading. He's left Tranmere Rovers after a couple of seasons and is talking to Dagenham & Redbridge at the moment. If they don't take him on as a pro then we're very keen to get him and I don't think he would join any other semi-pro club."

FA Cup draw
Kingstonian have been drawn away to Margate in the FA Cup second qualifying round. The match is to be played on Saturday 25th September, kick off 3pm at Hartsdown Park.

Manager Alan Dowson comments, "We've got a similar situation to last season, being drawn against a side who we've already beaten, so we should take some confidence from that. But as we saw then, the opposition will be extra motivated, and we've got to make sure that we do the job properly as Margate are a good team."

Academy up and running
Today is the first day of the Kingstonian FC academy at Glyn School and the club would like to wish good luck to everyone involved - from head coach Mark Hams, the setup at Glyn, our partners at SCL and of course the youngsters starting their studies in the classroom and out on the pitches.

Manager Alan Dowson comments, "Hamsey is the best out there and it's so exciting to get this all up and running. He's out there right now leading the first training sessions, and has put a lot of work into this project which has made all of us at the club very proud."

Keep up with their progress on the Kingstonian FC Academy website, which can be reached via the links page.

125th anniversary events
This November marks 125 years of the club, with the first football match involving a Kingstonian team recorded on 28th November 1885 - a friendly between Surbiton Hill and Kingston and Surbiton YMCA, which ended in a 3-1 win for Surbiton Hill. The Supporters Club have been involved in organising three events to mark this significant landmark.

Firstly the club has been invited to participate in the Heritage Open Days event next week, which celebrates Englands architecture and culture by allowing visitors free access and tours of interesting properties that are either not normally open or that would normally charge an entrance fee. We have been invited to participate in the event by the Chair of the Kingston Society, Jennifer Butterworth, and will be presenting a sample display of memorabilia and artefacts dating back almost ninety years at the New Malden Library, 48 Kingston Road, New Malden KT3 3LY. The library is a Grade II listed building and is one of the few buildings to be constructed during World War II.

The event itself runs from Thursday 9th September to Saturday 11th September and the librarys opening hours are 9.30am to 7pm on Thursday, 9.30am to 6pm on Friday and 9.30am to 5pm on Saturday. Although this will be a relatively small exhibition of Ks memorabilia we hope supporters will take the time to visit the library (which is a ten minute walk towards New Malden from Kingsmeadow). Tours of the library including our exhibition will be taking place each day and the times of the Saturday tours are 11am and 3.30pm.

Then on 13th November 2010 Kingstonian entertain Canvey Island in a Ryman Premier League match, kick-off 3pm. Earlier that day, the Supporters Club will be hosting a players' reunion event in the Ethelred Suite at the ground. We are inviting a large number of former Kingstonian players and some ex-managers as our guests, including as many players as possible from the FA Trophy Winning teams of 1999 and 2000. The Supporters Club will be sponsoring both the event and the match. The event will be open to all supporters, who are invited to come and talk again to their old heroes. There will also be a display of K's memorabilia and artefacts relevant to players there on the day.

Finally we have booked the Community Showcases at the Kingston Museum for the months of November and December 2010. There will be a large display of Kingstonian artefacts and memorabilia (including trophies, medals, international caps, photos and programmes) at the Museum during the course of these two months, with the intention being to change the display at least once during this period. We already have a large number of items but if anyone has any K's artefacts that are suitable for display that we could borrow, please speak to John Fenwick - newly appointed Club Archivist.

Upcoming social events
The opening social fundraising event of the new campaign will take place on Friday September 24th in the Ethelred Suite at Kingsmeadow.

Hartlepool's highly renowned comedy hypnotist Miles England will be the main attraction when he takes to the stage around 9.15pm. Would want to miss seeing Dowse in a trance?! It all revolves about audience participation so people are encouraged to take part in the fun on the night. More entertainment is on the bill for this event - details and ticket details will be announced shortly.

Other events planned are an inter-club sports quiz challenge night on behalf of the Supporters Club, when we will hopefully play host to teams from local clubs such as Leatherhead, Staines Town, AFC Wimbledon, Hampton & Richmond, Molesey, Sutton United and others.

There will be another unique entertainment evening in October featuring live music and in response to popular demand we will host another legends evening early in 2011. It could be a non-Chelsea event - please send any thoughts or suggestions to Pete Bowers at marketing@kingstonian.net
