Kingstonian almost pulled of a big comeback at title contenders Lowestoft Town, but ultimately saw their own playoff hopes dented.
The fast-starting hosts opened the scoring in the 13th minute through Chris Henderson, a lead doubled by Andrew Fisk midway through the half. The K's however pulled one back five minutes before the break, when Bobby Traynor struck his 150th goal for the club. The momentum change continued in the second half and within ten minutes Saheed Sankoh fired home an equaliser out of the top drawer.
Lowestoft were reduced to ten men when Erkan Okay was dismissed for a second bookable offence, but the numerical advantage seemed to do little to help Kingstonian as the game got scrappy. Indeed, it was a scrappy moment that decided the outcome as the Trawler Boys were awarded a 75th minute penalty, converted by Dean Sinclair. No amount of pressure could bring the K's level this time, even the presence of Rob Tolfrey in the opposition box in the final minute.
Kingstonian secured a two-nil win at Canvey Island to overcame Canvey Island to move into a season high 8th place in the league table.
Bobby Traynor opened the scoring from the penalty spot midway through the first half, after Saheed Sankoh had been felled. Ian Gayle added a second in the 79th minute to make sure of the result, though both sides saw efforts clip the crossbar in the closing stages.

The documentary film Kingsmeadow, a celebration of Kingstonian FC and non-league football across the UK, will have its first TV broadcast on ESPN this Wednesday at 6.30pm as part of the channel's programming around the live FA Cup match between Tottenham Hotspur and Stevenage. For those who don't have ESPN and/or want to enjoy it on the big screen, it will be on in the clubhouse at the ground.
The film, which features manager Alan Dowson, assistant manager Mark Hams and K's stalwarts Simon Huckle, Bashiru Alimi and Rob Tolfrey, has enjoyed glowing reviews following screening at the club in June and a sold-out premiere at the famous Everyman cinema in Hampstead last September as part of the UK's first Football Film Festival, 'Kicking & Screening'. The FA have endorsed the film, "A beautiful film for the beautiful game - captures the soul of football".
Director Adam Tyler says, "The warmth, intimacy and community spirit around a non-league football match is unique, and most people don't realise that these clubs are a huge part of the lives of hundreds of thousands across the country. At a time when the excesses of top-level football risk turning many away from the game, we wanted to celebrate the core values that make the game special, and that are so evident in the non-league world."
Follow @KingsmeadowFilm on twitter for updates and information about further broadcasts and the planned DVD release later in the year.
