Kingstonian 1-3 Bognor Regis Town |
Bognor Regis put an end to Kingstonian's good run of form with a three-one win at Kingsmeadow.
Jason Prior opened the scoring for the visitors in the 7th minute before Bobby Traynor levelled the scores from close range ten minutes later. Bognor's Michael Birmingham then converted a controversially-retaken penalty just after the half hour mark, having seen his first effort well saved by Rob Tolfrey.
Bashiru Alimi saw an effort chalked off and with K's unable to find another equaliser, it was Bognor who struck again, through Prior in the 74th minute to seal a victory that lifted them off the bottom of the table.

Christmas message from Dowse |
Christmas message from Dowse
"What a year it's been - plenty of ups and not many downs. The highlight of the year was without doubt winning promotion, though there's so many other things on and off the pitch for us to all be proud of. We'll be going into next year a stronger group, that's for sure.
Speaking of strong, it's been a good year for my assistant manager and coach Mark Hams. He mixed it with big names from the game to get his UEFA A badge, and did pretty well to finish second in the World's Strongest Man too.
We've had some help along the way from friends in the game, and the latest example is Billy McKinley at Fulham. He was good enough to play in my testimonial and has helped us out with training facilities whilst the training ground has been frozen. We had a good session in their dome last night and look forward to going back. We just need a hand from mother nature to get playing again now as, with the exception of Dean Lodge who's looking doubtful, we've got a fully fit squad to pick from for the holiday games.
We've all got our little requests for Santa but I hope there's two of them out there now, as the Huckle family will be enough work to keep a whole Santa busy. So if there's anything left to go around, there's a few things we need to get on to his list...
Some clothes for Carl Wilson-Denis, as the poor guy had to turn up to the end of season do in cricket gear. A new personal trainer for chairman Mark Anderson as whoever's working on him at the moment is making no difference whatsoever. A script for secretary Gerry Petit as he's been a bit lonely and out of the public eye since he last appeared as Harold in Steptoe & Son. A request for the tooth fairy to bring back some of Lee Hall's teeth.
We've seen some weddings and babies born over the year but Christmas is the time for love, so we're looking forward to hearing of Liam Collins and Tommy Williams' engagement. Thick as thieves those too - Posh & Becks eat your hearts out!
So from myself, Hamsey, Martin, the staff and all the players, we hope you have a lovely Christmas and hope we can do our bit to make sure you have an enjoyable one. As always, thanks for your great support!" |

Update from Alan Dowson |
Manager Alan Dowson comments, "We had a big match on Saturday given the position of the two clubs, both in the league table and also in terms in terms of local interest.
"It was a tight game but we thought we were going to hold on after Hucks' goal. So we were obviously disappointed to concede, and the players on the pitch and also the subs warming up down the touchline were convinced that the goal was offside. I've had to get over to calm them down to make sure we didn't pick up any silly cards. As it happens I might have said something the ref didn't like and I ended up in the stands. It felt like the longest seven minutes being stuck up there but it was nice that my chairman Malcolm Winwright came over to sit with me, and I really appreciate that support.
"The toughest call I had was whether to put Dean Lodge on. He's a match winner and I can't wait to get him back in the team but he's only just got back from an injury that had dragged on a bit, and it was a gamble on that pitch. With a full week of training he should be ready for the next game." |

Sutton United 1-1 Kingstonian |
Kingstonian and Sutton shared the spoils with a one-all draw in front of a crowd of 731 at Gander Green Lane.

A festive party has been organised at the Symonds Well pub, 30 South Street in Epsom (KT18 7PF), this Saturday 12th December from 7.30pm (open until 1am). There will be a disco, nibbles, raffle and demand pending, a poker table.
Via public transport, the 470 bus runs from Sutton and Cheam stations towards Epsom every half hour until around 8pm. The 406/418 buses then run from Epsom towards Kingston every quarter of an hour until midnight.
Manager Alan comments, "There should be a lot of people at the game on Saturday, and it would be nice to see them at the party that has been laid on for us at Epsom. Landlord Andy is one of K's biggest fans, in every sense!" |
Update from Alan Dowson |
Manager Alan Dowson comments, "We had our midweek game at Hornchurch called off and I'm pleased with that to be honest. Not as pleased as the players though, as I can't imagine some of them braving a cold shower. I reckon Gerry (Petit) must have done their plumbing!
It means we've had a chance to get onto the training pitch to get some extra preparation in for Saturday's game at Sutton. I know it's a game that particularly catches the local interest and I want to make sure the players are as up for it as the fans will be." |
Liam Collins and Tommy Williams |
Midfielders Liam Collins and Tommy Williams have returned to the club following their loan spells at Leatherhead (and Ashford).
Manager Alan Dowson comments, "We're pleased to have them back as they're good lads who showed last year what good ball players they are. It adds some competition to the team, though Liam will have to wait a little longer as he's currently injured." |

Mo Harkin |
Midfielder Mo Harkin has agreed to join the club on a permanent basis from Farnborough Town, from where he had originally come from on a three month loan.
Manager Alan Dowson comments, "Mo is one of the best users of the ball in the league - he wins and then retains it, simple as that. He's got good experience at both professional and non-league level and we're delighted to be able to keep him." |
Karl Beckford and Des Boateng |
Midfielders Karl Beckford and Des Boateng have been released by mutual consent. Both former Carshalton Athletic players joined
at the end of August and made 14 and 16 appearances respectively for the K's.
Manager Alan Dowson comments, "Karl needs to be starting more games and Des has been travelling across down from north London so needs to find somewhere more local. They came in as part of half a dozen or so when we were have a real tough time and have helped do a great job in turning things round. Good luck to both of them at their next clubs." |
