East Thurrock jumped ahead of Kingstonian, as the two took the final two in the top half of the league table, following a five-two win at a wet Kingsmeadow.
Bobby Traynor had given the K's a 16th minute lead, but the visitors levelled through Sam Higgins just a minute later. Higgins struck again just after the half hour mark, further extended just after half time and again through Kye Ruel in the 65th minute. Traynor pulled it back to four-two in the 70th minute but Higgins completed his hat trick to secure a comfortable winning margin for East Thurrock.
Manager Alan Dowson commented after the game, "This was an opportunity to play some of the youngsters. We were sloppy in the game and they punished us, but for me the new season starts now".
The Kingston Road End will be closed for tomorrow's match, as it is currently being redeveloped in time for next season. The East Stand (formerly Grolsch / John Smiths Stand) will also be closed due to the impact of the building work.
Therefore the regular turnstiles will not be in operation and admission will be via the newer turnstiles at the top end of the ground at the Athletics Stadium End.

Hendon lifted the London Senior Cup following a two-nil win over Kingstonian at Imber Court.
Both sides struck the woodwork in the first half, with Bobby Traynor's effort saved onto the crossbar being K's best effort of the game.
Hendon broke the deadlock in the 56th minute through a Darren Currie strike, increasing their lead when Jack Mazzone chipped in a second and decisive goal in the 70th minute. Substitute Tom Bird rattled the crossbar with a late free kick but K's were unable to claw their way back into the game.

The Kingstonian Supporters Club end of season party and presentation evening will take place on Friday 4th May, doors 7.30pm and presentations no earlier than 8.30pm, in the Saxon Rooms at Kingsmeadow. There will also be a disco, buffet, raffle and bar.
Tickets, free for supporters club members and £10 for non-members, will be available from Vicky Jones from Saturday 14th April.
Allan Tait scored both goals as Kingstonian beat Met Police by two goals to one.
Tait's first goal was a well executed shot in the 9th minute, and whilst the visitors drew level in the 74th minute after Aaron Goode inadvertently diverted the ball into his own net, Tait beat everyone - including the goalkeeper - to the ball to tap home the winner with only a few minutes remaining.
