Kingstonian 2-3 Crystal Palace |
A young Crystal Palace team put an end to K's cup hopes for the season following a three-two win at Kingsmeadow.
Christian Jolley opened the scoring for the K's with a header on the half hour mark, though the momentum of the game changed midway through the game as the Eagles scored on either side of half time. Taureen Roberts knocked in a rebound a minute before half time before Ibra Sekassa scored a second in the 51st minute.
Max Hustwick's 80th minute headed goal levelled the scores, but Palace retook the advantage through substitute Rhys Williamson-Murrel with five minutes to go. This turned out to be the winning goal as K's were denied in stoppage time, first seeing th e ball roll along the goal line following a scramble and then when Jolley was denied a penalty shout in the final moments.

Update from Alan Dowson |
Manager Alan Dowson comments, "Speculation seems to be part of the game these days and you just get on with it, but I've been getting a lot of questions about Dean Lodge. The fact of the matter is that like any other player he is not immune to injury and has been out of the last few games with a dead leg. It's frustrating that's it's taken longer than we hoped to get him back but he's failed fitness tests before each game and has had to watch from the sidelines.
"I can't speak highly enough of the lad as he's really grown on and off the pitch over the last couple of months. There's a real sense of commitment and maturity about him now and he's a pleasure to work with. He's been receiving treatment and is desperate to be back in the side on Saturday." |

Lee Minshull added a second for the visitors midway through the half before Paul Booth's tight angle-shot made it three going in to half time.
The outcome was put into doubt when Tom Bryant was sent off with a quarter of an hour remaining for handling on the line. Traynor converted the penalty, but the closest his side could get to levelling the scores again was substitute Lewis Cook's parried strike.

Sponsored walk |
This year's sponsored walk will take place on Saturday 12th December 2009, leaving Kingsmeadow at 12pm for the game at Sutton's Gander Green Lane ground. The planned route, through Worcester Park is a well-worn one and is approximately 5 miles. There's a return journey too, though it is left to individuals to decide if they wish to walk one or both ways!
The walk is open to anyone with a comfortable pair of shoes/trainers and a willingness to support the event, benefiting the St John Ambulance and Kingstonian FC. There is no minimum or maximum amount which needs to be raised so ask family, friends, neighbours, work/school, colleges or whoever else you can think of to sponsor you either per mile or as a total and help us raise lots of cash for two very worthy causes. Forms can be found on the download forms page.
Please note that this event is subject to progress in the FA Trophy, in which case a new walk will be arranged. |

Walton Casuals 4-3 Kingstonian |
Kingstonian exited the Championship Manager Cup by the odd goal in seven at Walton Casuals in a match which they had threatened to run riot in.
Christian Jolley struck the opening goal in only the second minute, and was quick to double his tally in the 8th minute when stealing past home goalkeeper Chico Ramos. Jolley, Matt Gray and Francis Duku were all denied before former K's striker James Rose pulled a goal back in a moment of confusion at the other end before half time.
Another former K's man - Craig Lewington - found the back of the net to level the scores after the break, though the erratic Ramos handed back the lead in the 63rd minute after illegally picking up a backpass. Lewis Cook blasted in the resulting free kick.
Ramos was almost punished towards the end when he let a throughball slip through his legs. The missed chances came back to haunt K's as substitute Martin Grant struck superbly twice in the final minutes to swing the result to the home team.
Manager Alan Dowson comments, "I thought we played well for much of the match, passed the ball around well, and with a bit more luck would have scored more goals. Credit to Walton Casuals for sticking in there though and coming back like they did. we'll be more careful not to let that happen in the other cups."
Full details of the match are now available. |

Rob Tolfrey |
The club are pleased to announce the signing of goalkeeper Rob Tolfrey (22) from Horsham.
Manager Alan Dowson comments, "We were close to signing Rob last season from Whyteleafe just before he moved to Horsham. We want two good goalkeepers pushing eachother, just like Luke and Ashlee were recently, so we had to move quickly." |
Wednesday 4th November 2009 |
Update from Alan Dowson |
Manager Alan Dowson comments, "I've been working on a couple of targets this week but am disappointed that news has leaked out about both as we like to only mention deals when they're done.
The first is goalkeeper Rob Tolfrey from Horsham. We were close to signing Rob last season from Whyteleafe before he chose to move to Horsham instead. So he's an excellent goalie who we've tried to get before, but this time we have agreed terms and I expect the paperwork to be signed tomorrow at training. I've heard suggestions that Horsham say it's for more money but he'll be here because he wants to be, not for any more money than he's on at the moment.
"We also put in a seven day approach for striker Byron Harrison at Ashford Town (Middx) but haven't had any luck as they believe they'll be due some compensation due to his age and terms he's been offered there." |
Loan arrangements |
Liam Collins will be joined by fellow midfielder Tommy Williams on loan at Leatherhead as both players have their loan deals extended into a second month. Meanwhile, Adam Thompson's loan at Merstham ends on Saturday.
Manager Alan Dowson comments, "Liam and Tommy just had a couple of knocks and need to build some momentum so it makes sense all round to give them some extra time out on loan. Adam should be ready to join up with us again on Monday." |
Christian Jolley |
The club is pleased to announce that midfielder Christian Jolley has signed a contract with the club. Christian joined the club in the summer after impressing in pre-season.
Manager Alan Dowson comments, "Chris is a fast young player who's got a lot of potential. Ian Pearce introduced him to us in the summer and I know they're keeping tabs on him at Lincoln, and the same goes for a handful of other clubs. As things go, we're pleased with how he's developing and have more to look forward to." |

Manager Alan comments, "We try to get out and about in the community as much as we can and haven't had a do at the Royal Oak yet so what better timing. I hear it's usually popular with Chelsea fans, but there will be no one more welcome than K's fans on Sunday." |
FA Trophy draw |
Kingstonian have been drawn at home to Chippenham Town in the third and final qualifying round of the FA Trophy.

Joel Ledgister |
Midfielder Joel Ledgister has been released by the club at his own request.
Manager Alan Dowson comments, "Joel's come and seen me and asked to be released as he thinks he's got a chance to play pro football so good luck to him." |
Ryan Lake |
Defender Ryan Lake has left the club by mutual consent to join Walton & Hersham. Ryan joined the club in the summer from Hampton & Richmond Borough.
Manager Alan Dowson comments, "Ryan's a good player but has had a tough time of things with injury and personal circumstances. He's been getting games at Egham but needs to be playing in this league so is going to Walton, where I know he'll do well." |
